Ismail Marzuki 1)_________ also known as Bang Ma’ing. Born in Kwitang, Jakarta on 11th May 1914 was an Indonesian composer, song writer and 2)_________ to a wealthy Betawi Family.


The young Marzuki 3)_________ music, listened to the family’s gramophone and learned to play rebana, ukulele, and guitar. He was also fluent in Indonesian, English, and Dutch, but he did not study music formally.

The History and Legacy of Marzuki Ismail

Bang Maing is the nickname of “Ismail Marzuki”. He died in Jakarta, 5 May 1958 at the age of 44. This native Betawi is known as one of the great composers, songwriters that Indonesia has ever 4) _______. His songs are very easy to remember and the lyrics contain of love to the nation.
